Job Summary
Uses non-invasive ultrasound and cardiovascular technology equipment to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with heart and blood vessel conditions. Schedules appointments, explains procedures to patients and maintains ultrasound equipment.

Job Requirements
Education and Work Experience:
- Diploma/certificate from a Diagnostic Medical Sonography college/school or equivalent: Required
- Cardiac/vascular ultrasound experience: Preferred
- Registered Cardiac Sonographer (CCI-RCS) Certification or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS): Required in CA and HI
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required in CA and HI
- Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQI BLS) certification: Required
- Prepares patients, explains procedures and ensures patient cooperation during examinations. Perform echocardiograms to evaluate different aspects of the heart, such as chamber size, valve function and blood flow. Reviews patient files for basic cardiac conditions in order to recognize and identify any abnormalities.
- Monitors vital signs, evaluates general patient condition for signs of impending complications and reports unusual, possibly harmful or dangerous observations to physicians and department managers, as appropriate.
- Informs patients and family members about the nature of examinations.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
