Enters patient orders and information into the information system accurately. Assembles requisitions, folders, labels, and patient questionnaires for exam completion. Coordinates patient care by communicating status, waiting times, scheduled procedures, and clinical information to technologists and patient floors. Prints, sorts, files, faxes, and distributes radiology reports, calling reports to physicians or nursing floors as needed. Releases records in accordance with policy and regulations, scans outside films, and sets up comparison studies. Assists physicians and others in locating patient records and completes requests for offsite films, transferring received images. Monitors patient waiting areas, checking on patients and contacting appropriate technologists or supervisors for non-routine service orders. Registers outpatients by gathering demographics and insurance information, achieving a 95% accuracy rating. Calculates patient liability, completes insurance verification, and collects payments due, referring patients to financial counselors if necessary. Ensures accurate use of the hospital system, proper patient identification, and obtains pre-certification and necessary signatures for treatment. Other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:- Proficiency in the performance of basic math functions, capability to communicate professionally with an acceptable use of English and spelling. [Required]
- Must possess general clerical skills (such as typing), as well as good communication and organizational skills. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. [Required]
- Communication skills as necessary for contacts with patients, and family members of adult, adolescent, pediatric and geriatric age groups. [Required]
- Good telephone and communication skills are necessary. [Required]
- While policy and procedures are available and a great deal of the work is routine, new situations arise frequently. Employee must be able to use own judgment and initiative to resolve immediate or urgent problems and expedite patient care as needed. Judgment needed to inform appropriate person (Radiologist, Supervisor, or Technologist) of urgent issues or problems. Must be able to act quickly when emergency situations occur such as fire, security or disaster. [Required]

Field of Study:
- N/A
Work Experience:
- 1 years experience in office and customer service setting [Required]
- Experience in computer programs (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is encouraged. [Preferred]
- Medical office experience desirable, with radiology experience [Preferred]
- Physician office experience considered beneficial as well. [Preferred]
- Some experience in a hospital registration or collection area [Preferred]
