Job Description:

Receives payments from third-party payor lockbox and mail correspondence, posting payments to patient claims in the patient accounting system. Reviews electronic remittances, resolves electronic posting exceptions and variances, and posts payments to corresponding patient claims. Interprets Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and transfers remaining patient and secondary insurance liability to the appropriate payor or next responsible party. Distinguishes unidentified payments and posts payments to designated unidentified cash accounts. Posts and processes all zero-balance EOBs daily. Contacts payors when additional information is necessary to address a payment posting issue. Develops and maintains productive team-oriented relationships through individual contacts and group meetings. Achieves superior customer satisfaction by embracing and exemplifying the AdventHealth service standards. Other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word) [Required]

• Effectively utilize available and relevant technical tools and resources (e.g. Microsoft Excel and other relevant software) [Required]

• Familiarity with insurance plans and EOBs [Required]
• Medical terminology, knowledge of insurance and reimbursement procedures [Required]
• Basic understanding of Epic patient accounting system [Required]
• Understanding of complexity around line level payment posting for physician posting [Preferred]
• Knowledge of HCFA 1500 and UB04 [Preferred]

Work Experience:

• Experience in posting insurance and patient payments, cash applications, cash posting for physician, home health and hospital services, including posting check and credit card payments, Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT), Automated Clearing House (ACH) and lock box payments [Required]
• Experience in reconciliation of payments to physician claims and hospital services [Required]
• Experience in reconciling cash [Required]
