What are the responsibilities and job description for the Network Field Technician position at Advantage Technical?
We’re looking for an AMI Network Administrator to support and maintain a large Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) network. This role focuses on keeping AMI routers, gateways, and meter nodes communicating reliably and efficiently. Ideal for someone with experience in AMI, RF communications, utilities, telecom field networking, or IoT device networks.
What You’ll Do
- Monitor and maintain AMI network devices (routers, gateways, endpoints)
- Troubleshoot communication failures, RF issues, and device outages
- Perform meter firmware deployments and validate successful upgrades
- Conduct field inspections and RF testing as needed
- Support system reliability goals
- Partner with technical teams and vendors on upgrades and issue resolution
What We’re Looking For
Required:
- Background in AMI, RF, telecom, field networking, IoT, or utility operations
- Strong troubleshooting skills for device-level or RF mesh networks
- Ability to work in the field and outdoors as needed
- Valid driver’s license (or ability to obtain within 90 days of relocation)
Preferred:
- Experience with AMI systems (any vendor)
- Utility industry experience (electric/water/gas)
- Network or cybersecurity certifications (Network , CCNA, Security , CISSP)
Salary : $60,000 - $100,000
