Mobile Device RF Test Engineer

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for designing, planning, and leading radio frequency test and validation strategies that ensure the performance, reliability, and quality of mobile devices, related products, systems, and processes across the company production operations.
- Reporting to the Senior Manager of Test Engineering, this role applies advanced RF engineering knowledge specific to mobile devices and electronics communication systems to define testing methodologies, evaluate technical risk, analyze data, and develop recommendations that influence engineering and operational outcomes.
- Collaborates with Engineering, Operations, IT, vendors, equipment providers, and external partners to ensure RF test equipment is properly configured, test scripts are developed and validated, and RF testing processes are effectively deployed and followed.
- While the role may involve hands-on interaction with test equipment, the primary responsibility is ownership of RF testing strategy, test design, validation methodology, and technical decision-making rather than routine test execution.
- Design and optimize system-level RF engineering solutions that integrate processes, tools, data, and workflows across functions.
- Lead complex cross-functional initiatives that impact quality, performance, cost, scalability, or lifecycle outcomes.
- Establish and refine RF engineering standards, validation methods, documentation practices, and process controls.
- Own key system KPIs and proactively drive improvements through structured analysis and sustainable countermeasures.
- Serve as an RF subject matter expert in core technical domains, advising leadership and stakeholders on risk, feasibility, and long-term impact.
- Lead advanced root cause analysis and corrective action strategies across multi-functional systems.
- Support new product introductions, technology deployments, and process transformations with system-level readiness and validation oversight.
- Mentor Engineer 1 and Engineer 2 team members, elevating technical depth and structured problem-solving capability.
- Partner with global teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to align engineering solutions with long-term strategy.
- Communicate technical direction, tradeoffs, and recommendations clearly to leadership.
- Remain adaptable to evolving priorities while maintaining accountability for system performance and reliability.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline required
- 5 years of progressive engineering experience.
- Demonstrated experience with RF engineering, RF test equipment, mobile device testing, or electronics communication systems.
- Demonstrated success influencing system-level engineering outcomes.
- Experience leading complex cross-functional initiatives preferred.
- Experience working with U.S. wireless carrier and major mobile device OEM RF testing requirements preferred.
- Experience collaborating with vendors, equipment providers, and external technical partners preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of RF engineering test and validation equipment, principles, testing parameters, and processes.
- Highly developed knowledge of mobile device RF testing related to U.S. wireless carriers and major mobile device OEMs.
- Ability to design RF validation frameworks and test methodologies for complex, integrated production environments.
- Strong system-thinking capability — understands interactions across processes, tools, data, and people.
- Demonstrated ability to design scalable solutions beyond individual features.
- Proficiency in advanced problem-solving methodologies (RCA, CAPA, FMEA, DOE, statistical analysis).
- Ability to influence engineering direction without direct authority.
- Experience driving standardization and engineering best practices.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and cross-functional communication skills.
