Job Title: Import Compliance & Customs Specialist

Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Import Compliance & Customs Specialist to manage and coordinate the import clearance process for international shipments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in U.S. Customs regulations, Harmonized Tariff classification, and import documentation, preferably gained from working in a freight forwarder's import department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Classify goods accurately using the U.S. Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and apply appropriate duty rates.

  • Prepare and review all required import documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading.

  • Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and carriers to ensure timely and compliant import clearance.

  • Monitor shipments from origin to destination, proactively addressing delays or compliance issues.

  • Stay current with U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP) regulations and trade compliance requirements.

  • Maintain organized records of import entries and related documentation for audits and regulatory review.

  • Advise internal teams on duty rates, import restrictions, and other compliance considerations.

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience in import operations, customs brokerage, or freight forwarding.

  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, Harmonized Tariff classification, and import clearance processes.

  • Familiarity with ACE (Automated Commercial Environment) and other customs entry systems.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Customs Broker License (preferred but not required).

Ideal Background:
Experience working in a freight forwarder's import department or in a customs brokerage environment handling U.S. import shipments from start to finish.
