Summary
The Systems Administrator will design, implement, configure, and support organizational computer systems, business applications, security tools, and related hardware. The Systems Administrator must be able to effectively manage both physical and virtual systems, deploy system and application patches, and support Microsoft Active Directory domain services. The Systems Administrator will establish and follow procedures to perform a variety of complex information technology support duties ensuring smooth operation of technology services and maintain high information security standards.
Core competencies include domain/server administration and patch management.
Responsibilities
The office is in a manufacturing facility. As such, while the primary environment will be an office setting, the position will require frequent visits to the production floor where exposure to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles will be present. The noise level in the working environment is usually moderate to loud. Proper safety precautions, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), must be followed as dictated by the job and working environment.

Responsibilities
- Manage user accounts and access rights of organizational users and vendors
- Configure and maintain reliable operation of computer systems in a Microsoft Active Directory domain environment
- Domain administration including DHCP, DNS, Group Policy, and certificate management
- Deploy, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers in a VMWare environment including the underlying infrastructure
- Monitor systems for performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability
- Develop and execute patch management of computer systems and applications
- Review release notes and test patches in a non-production environment to ensure compatibility and functionality
- Coordinate patching activities with cross functional teams and communicate project and operational metrics
- Manage license inventory of organizational systems and applications
- Participate in storage solution upgrades, architecture reviews, security reviews, capacity planning, resources reclamation, tuning and troubleshooting to ensure storage availability and performance
- Perform file and system level recoveries
- Assist in maintaining core infrastructure systems (OSD, Email, VOIP, etc.)
- Maintain clear and thorough technical documentation related to operating procedures, network configurations, change management and hardware/software inventories
- Offer technical support and training across the organization
- Work with desktop support team on escalated support requests
- Collaborate with vendors to support hardware and systems
- Maintain safe and clean work environment
- 3-5 years proven experience in a Systems Administrator or similar role
- Bachelor’s degree in IT field or equivalent experience and certifications
- Strong customer service orientation
- Proven analytical and critical thinking capabilities
- Proven ability to work with individuals of various technological backgrounds
- Excellent verbal, written and listening skills with the ability to clearly present information
- Must exhibit professionalism when communicating with superiors and peers
- Must have the ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands and able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
- Must be able to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously and follow through on issues in a timely manner
- Must have the ability and willingness to work extended hours and overtime, including weekends, as required by the work schedule and production needs
