Summary
We are seeking a Tool Crib Attendant to join our team at Milan Metal Systems. This position is responsible for keeping records of tools issued to and returned by employees and search for lost or misplaced tools. Conducting periodic or perpetual inventory and requisition stock as needed. Unpack and store new equipment. Visually inspect tools or measures with a micrometer for wear or defects, and report damaged and worn-out equipment.
The position is based in Milan, MI.
Responsibilities
- Manage the inventory of tools and equipment in the tool crib.
- Ensure all tools are organized, maintained, and readily available for production staff.
- Conduct regular audits of tool inventory to track usage and condition.
- Assist in ordering new tools and supplies as needed to maintain stock levels.
- Responsible for storing and issuing hand tools, machine tools, measuring devices and other equipment.
- Dispense tools to operators and maintain a record of tools issued and tools received.
- Receive new tools from vendors.
- Inspect new parts to ensure they meet company specifications.
- Maintain records of ordered parts to confirm receipt of parts as ordered.
- Inspect parts when received for defects and deviations from company tolerance standards.
- Report any needed repairs to supervisor and follow up with tool and die maintenance personnel to ensure required repairs are done.
- Maintain current inventory listing of tool room.
- Prepare report of current inventory and distribute to supervisor and department heads.
- Prepare stock requisitions for low inventory for purchasing to ensure the availability of parts as needed by production operators.
- Completes and performs all other tasks necessary and/or assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- One to two years related work experience.
- Experience working with Plex a plus.
- Computer Skills (MS Office: Email/Word/Excel)
- Proven experience in inventory control or a similar role is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Familiarity with manufacturing environments is beneficial.
