Advanced Steel Technology (AST) is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment to minimize downtime and ensure safe, efficient operations. The ideal candidate will have strong electrical and pneumatic troubleshooting skills and experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment.
Primary Function
Performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and installation of manufacturing equipment and facility systems. Works closely with production to ensure equipment reliability while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical equipment.
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on manufacturing machinery.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Install, repair, and maintain motors, sensors, switches, relays, contactors, VFDs, and electrical control systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic cylinders, valves, regulators, and air distribution systems.
- Maintain hydraulic systems, pumps, hoses, and related components.
- Repair conveyors, welding equipment, presses, cutting machines, cranes, forklifts, and other steel processing equipment.
- Perform welding, fabrication, and basic machining as needed to complete repairs.
- Inspect equipment regularly to identify potential failures before they occur.
- Document maintenance work performed and maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow all company safety policies, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), electrical safety, and required PPE.
- Respond to emergency equipment breakdowns as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical degree or maintenance certification preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems (120V, 240V, 480V three-phase).
- Experience troubleshooting electrical controls, motors, relays, contactors, and VFDs.
- Strong pneumatic troubleshooting and repair experience required.
- Experience with hydraulic systems preferred.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
- Basic welding and fabrication experience preferred.
- Knowledge of PLC troubleshooting is a plus.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, meters, and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, dust, and moving equipment.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces when necessary.
Schedule
- Full-time
- Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required to support production needs.

Candidates with experience in industrial electrical systems, pneumatic controls, PLC troubleshooting, hydraulic repair, welding, and preventative maintenance in a steel processing or heavy manufacturing environment are strongly encouraged to apply.
Pay: From $18.25 per hour
