Job Summary
APEX is seeking a dedicated and experienced Quality Assurance Technician with extrusion experience to join our team. The Quality Assurance Technician will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality standards are met throughout the production process, with a specific focus on extrusion operations. This role requires hands-on troubleshooting on the extruders and collaboration with the production team to maintain and improve product quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality Control and Inspection:
- Perform regular quality checks on products throughout the extrusion process to ensure they meet company and customer specifications.
- Conduct detailed inspections of incoming raw materials and finished products using lab equipment such as the X-rite color spectrophotometer with IQC color match software, Lyza FTIR, moisture analyzer, surface roughness tester, and melt flow analyzer.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments and testing equipment to verify product dimensions, performance, and integrity.
- Verify process sheets to ensure accuracy and compliance with production standards.
- Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving:
- Assist in identifying and resolving quality issues on the extrusion lines.
- Work closely with the extrusion operators to troubleshoot and correct process deviations.
- Provide technical support and guidance to production staff to ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspection results, non-conformances, and corrective actions using IQC color match software and Global Shop Solutions software.
- Prepare and submit quality reports to the Quality Assurance Manager and other relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with all documentation requirements and quality management systems.
- Complete 8D analysis for problem-solving and corrective action reporting.
- Create and manage quality documents using PDF, Word, and Excel formats.
- Customer Relations:
- Apply credits and manage customer returns efficiently and professionally.
- Work closely with the customer service team to resolve quality-related customer complaints and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Training
- Conduct training for various positions, such as the extrusion operators and extrusion assistants, mainly to enhance product knowledge and quality objectives.
- Determine & keep record of non conforming employees.
- Assist in the balance of quality vs productivity, looking at creative ways to improve productivity & quality.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing product quality and process efficiency.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend changes to optimize production quality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement quality improvement projects.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure all quality assurance activities comply with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Promote a culture of safety and quality within the production environment.
- Conduct regular audits of extrusion processes to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
Qualifications
- Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in quality assurance or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a quality assurance role within a manufacturing environment, preferably in plastic extrusion.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of extrusion processes and equipment.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments and testing equipment.
- Experience with lab equipment such as X-rite color spectrophotometer with IQC color match software, FTIR, Moisture analyzer, surface roughness tester, and melt flow analyzer.
- Familiarity with quality management systems and standards (e.g., ISO 9001).
- Proficiency in using Global Shop Solutions software.
- Ability to complete 8D analysis for problem-solving and corrective action reporting.
- Proficiency in creating and managing quality documents using PDF, Word, and Excel.
- Soft Skills:

Physical Requirements
