Position Summary
Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician supports daily pharmacy operations, including patient intake, insurance verification, prior authorizations, and prescription processing. Success in this role requires accuracy, professionalism, and the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Submit, track, and obtain prior authorizations
- Process and prepare specialty prescriptions under pharmacist supervision
- Verify insurance coverage and resolve claim issues
- Assist with inventory management
- Provide phone-based support to patients, physicians, and health care providers
- Perform additional administrative and project-related tasks as assigned
- Maintain compliance with pharmacy regulations and standards
Required Education and Experience
- HS Diploma or GED
- Active California Pharmacy Technician License
- Minimum 1 year experience as a Pharmacy Technician
- Minimum 1 year prior authorization experience
- Knowledge of medical terminology, prescriptions, and insurance processes
- Ability to read and process medication orders, prescriptions, and pharmacy SIG codes
- Ability to perform accurate calculations (e.g., day supply, drug quantities, dosing support)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task
- Experience with electronic health systems
- Proficient computer and typing skills
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Preferred Experience
- Proficiency in Spanish or Mandarin (verbal and written)
- Experience in an infusion or specialty pharmacy
- Experience with Brightree and/or CoverMyMeds
Work Schedule
- In-person
- Monday through Friday 8am-5pm
- Overtime as needed
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $28.00 per hour
