Schedule - Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm (Hybrid Schedule after training)
Pay - $30 - $34 phr based on experience paid weekly
REQUIREMENTS
- Must have CPC (Certified Coding Specialist)
- HS Diploma or GED
- 2 years of Risk Adjustment Coding Experience
- Own ICD9/10 Coding Books
Job Summary
Provide coding trainings and education as well as supports physicians, mid-levels, and support staff on how to understand and capture HCCs for appropriate organization members. Working under general supervision, this role provides prospective and retrospective chart reviews, provider assessments, and one-on-one and group education.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Abstracts diagnosis codes per policy from notes to be used to educate provider and staff on the importance of coding appropriately for HCC.
- Prepares targeted education for providers and staff with practice specific information.
- Acts as a coding resource for practices and responds in a timely manner to inquiries.
- Establishes and maintains a positive and professional working relationship with physicians, clinical, administrative and other staff
- Works with leadership team to establish EMR access within all practices.
- Actively participates in meetings with other departments and completes daily logs and other process forms as directed by supervisor.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Duties
- Accurately code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and DRG coding systems.
- Review and analyze medical records to ensure completeness and accuracy of documentation.
- Collaborate with medical staff to clarify any discrepancies in documentation or coding.
- Process medical billing and collections efficiently while adhering to established protocols.
- Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems for data entry and record management.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, coding guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct audits of coded records to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Provide training and support to staff regarding coding practices and documentation standards.
