• Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to promote optimal oral health.
• Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to develop personalized care plans.
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, dietary advice, and preventive care strategies to enhance their long-term dental health.
• Assist with chairside procedures such as taking dental radiographs (medical imaging), applying sealants, and providing patient comfort measures.
• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, including medical coding and treatment notes, to support billing and insurance claims.
• Follow strict infection control protocols utilizing aseptic techniques and proper sterilization procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
• Collaborate with dentists and other team members in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings to deliver seamless patient care.
• Monitor patient vital signs during appointments, recognize signs of medical emergencies, and respond appropriately.
• Support the dental office’s daily operations by managing appointment schedules, assisting with patient inquiries, and ensuring smooth workflow. Qualifications
• Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice.
• Proven experience working in dental clinics or dental offices with a strong understanding of dental terminology and procedures.
• Proficiency in using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and record keeping.
• Knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and sterilization processes aligned with OSHA guidelines.
• Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices is highly desirable for working effectively with young patients.
• Ability to perform chairside assisting tasks efficiently while maintaining excellent patient rapport.
• Strong understanding of medical terminology, vital signs assessment, and medical records management.
• Excellent communication skills to educate patients clearly about their oral health needs.
