Role:
The AMD Law Department is seeking a motivated attorney to support the Graphics & Engineering (G&E) business unit. This role will focus on providing legal counsel to GPU hardware, software, and AI development teams, as well as AMD’s Chief Software Office and open-source software stakeholders. The role will advise on product development and commercialization; complex technology and licensing agreements; intellectual property and open-source software; compliance and contractual risk; and help resolve disputes and other issues affecting G&E’s hardware and software products.

- Develop templates, playbooks, guidance, and training that improve contracting efficiency, promote consistent legal positions, and support compliance with company policies.
- Confident in making sound judgments and escalating when appropriate.
- Curious, adaptable, and eager to engage with emerging technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, and negotiate inbound/outbound software licenses, technology, and IP agreements.
- Counsel engineering clients on contract terms, software, compliance, AI solutions, and dispute resolution.
- Advise on open-source software use, including compliance with policies and code scanning.
- Provide guidance on product development and legal risk management.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to negotiate and coordinate key transactions.
- Develop and deliver internal training on legal, software, and compliance matters.
- Monitor emerging legal and regulatory issues affecting datacenter, AI, semiconductor, hardware, and software products, and translate those developments into practical guidance for the business.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience as a practicing attorney, with a combination of law firm and in-house strongly preferred.
- Expertise in intellectual property law, technology licensing, and open-source counseling
- Expertise in AI laws and governance, including worldwide AI laws (such as EU AI Act) and model development.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks and dispute resolution.
- Experience within the computing, semiconductor, software, AI, or related technology industries a plus.
Academic Credentials:
- JD degree and admission to practice law in a U.S. state.

Austin, TX or San Jose, CA
