This role leads cross-site engineering teams to deliver innovative solutions, scalable, manufacturable designs; drive improvement initiatives for cost, quality, and time-to-market; and standardize engineering processes, tools, and governance across 1HMX locations and business units.

Key Outcomes / What Success Looks Like

  • New product introduction (NPI) performance that meets customer and market requirements: on-time, on-cost, on-quality launches
  • Reduced Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) through robust design controls and disciplined change management
  • Improved manufacturability and supply chain continuity (DFM/DFA, VA/VE, supplier engineering engagement)
  • Standardized engineering execution across global sites (common tools, templates, stage gates, KPIs)
  • Strong engineering bench strength with clear roles, development plans, and succession coverage

Essential Responsibilities

Strategy & Leadership

  • Define and execute a global engineering roadmap aligned to 1HMX business objectives (growth, margin, customer expansion, operational scale).
  • Serve as executive sponsor for engineering governance, technical standards, design reviews, and risk management.
  • Build a high-performing culture of accountability, collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead and develop a multi-disciplinary engineering organization (EE/ME/FW/SW, test, sustaining, manufacturing/industrial engineering).

Product Development & NPI Execution

  • Own engineering delivery for NPI programs from concept through launch, including scope, resources, schedules, and technical decision-making.
  • Establish and enforce a product development lifecycle (PLM discipline, phase-gate milestones, design verification/validation).
  • Drive design for manufacturability/assembly/test (DFM/DFA/DFT) in partnership with Operations and Quality.

Application Engineering and New Business

  • Serve and support sales efforts as the executive engineering lead for strategic new business pursuits
  • Lead application engineering on developing winning new business proposals
  • Lead engineering efforts to support field issues, customer escalations, and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Standardize Engineering Change Order (ECO) processes and ensure configuration control across sites and suppliers.
  • Ensure lifecycle management of components, obsolescence mitigation, and second-source qualification.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Collaborate with Supply Chain on supplier selection, qualification, and technical performance management.
  • Align with Quality on design controls, audits, corrective action systems, and reliability test strategy.
  • Partner with Finance on engineering budgets, headcount strategy, and ROI-based prioritization.
  • Support Sales/Customer teams with technical credibility in key customer engagements.

Systems, Tools & Data

  • Drive innovation in the deployment of next generation product life cycle tools (PLM/PDM, CAD, ECAD, requirements, documentation, test data).

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or related).
  • 12 years progressive engineering leadership experience, including multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Proven executive-level leadership in product development and manufacturing environments (electronics/electro-mechanical strongly preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience scaling engineering processes across multiple sites and/or global operations.
  • Strong working knowledge of design controls, change management, and industrialization best practices.
  • Excellent executive communication skills and ability to influence across functions and geographies.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree (MS/MBA) is a plus.
  • Experience with regulated or high-reliability environments (aerospace, medical, industrial, telecommunications, automotive) helpful.
  • Experience with high-mix manufacturing, contract manufacturing, and supply chain risk mitigation.
  • Familiarity with Lean/Six Sigma, reliability engineering, and operational excellence frameworks.

Core Competencies

  • Executive leadership and organizational design
  • Proven ability to innovate and lead product execution and systems thinking
  • Technical depth with strong business judgment
  • Data-driven decision making and KPI discipline
  • Clear, candid communication; effective stakeholder management
  • Talent development, coaching, and accountability culture
