- Review medical records and documentation to ensure proper coding and billing compliance.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection practices.
- Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility prior to service delivery.
- Maintain detailed records of billing activities within EMR/EHR systems for audit readiness.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses or procedures for precise billing.
- Stay current with industry regulations and updates in medical coding standards to ensure compliance.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical billing, coding, or related medical office roles.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9 and ICD-10), CPT coding, and DRG systems.
- Familiarity with medical records management and documentation standards.
- Experience working with EMR or EHR systems for billing and recordkeeping.
- Excellent understanding of medical collection processes and insurance claim procedures.
- Ability to interpret complex medical documentation accurately and efficiently.
