Minimum Hiring Rate: $21.84/hour Maximum Hiring Rate: $23.00/hour
Summary: Coordinates the flow of orders from warehousing through load planning, dispatch, and export coordination to assure on- time delivery.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works in a safe manner, following all safety policies and procedures while keeping in mind other’s safety as well.
- Reports any accidents and potentially unsafe conditions or unsafe acts immediately to the appropriate supervisor.
- Fills out shipping notices, bills of lading, orders, and other records to determine transportation carrier, work, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.
- Reviews all outgoing shipping activities to assure accuracy, completeness, and proper shipping conditions.
- Determines space requirements and position of shipment in containers and trucks and lays out position of shipment.
- Inspects his/her own fork truck for defects and notifies maintenance personnel or contacts outside service facility for repair.
- Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platforms to storage and work areas.
- Informs the Customer Service Representative when shipping is completed and part numbers for any open tags.
- Communicates future needs and solutions to potential shipping bottlenecks.
- Coordinates and loads/unloads less than truckload (LTL) shipments.
- Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
- Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
- Reports on shortages and notify appropriate people concerning damaged goods.
- Assure movement of materials to proper delivery locations, storage and work areas.
- Operates fork truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
- Investigates problems to determine root causes and then develop and implement solutions. Identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Works with the Distribution Supervisor to plan layout of warehouse, and other storage areas, considering turnover, size, weight, and related factors of items stored.
- Process outbound small packages, truckload and air shipments.
- Unloads inbound materials.
- Loads finished good materials.
- Re-warehouses when necessary.
- Stages and loads outbound finished good materials in full truckload add mixed truckloads loads of product.
- Enters material movement information into AFSI/CAT computer systems.
- Cleans and maintains work environment
- Inventories materials on work floor, and supplies workers with materials as needed.
- Escalates issues related to production, inventory, warehouse, or other relevant areas to appropriate AFSI personnel in a timely manner.
- Removes empty pallets and cardboard from line areas and delivers to designated location(s). Keeps Dumpsters empty.
- Weighs materials or products and records weight on appropriate paperwork.
- Utilizes wireless tablets to review product and location information and compete all material moves and requests in JDE.
- Keeps accurate material handler daily move reports for WIP movements or movements that cannot be completed in JDE.
- Other duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. The employee will be required to operate a forklift for a majority of their shift. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

- Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 3 -5 years related experience and/or training. Preference will be given to a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Transportation Management, Distribution Operations, or Supply Chain. Experience with freight claim filing, international shipping documentation, customs declaration forms, and TMS/WMS systems is a plus.
Language Skills:
Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Able to write routine reports and correspondence; able to speak effectively to customers or employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Able to compute rate, ratio, and percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Outlook Internet software; ERP Systems (JD Edwards preferred); Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet, Word Processing software, and CAT EWM Operating Systems. Ability to efficiently utilize computing devices and handheld RFID devices. Proficient with UPS, FedEx, G.T. Nexus, DHL tracking systems.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Current Fork Truck license required.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Customer service oriented, effective personal skills both over the phone and in person.
