Advanced Fiber Products is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Quality Technician to support our quality management system and production operations. This hands-on position plays a critical role in ensuring product quality, supporting manufacturing teams, and driving continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility.

The Quality Technician spends approximately 95% of their time on the production floor working directly with operators, supervisors, and production teams to maintain quality standards and support operational excellence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform quality system audits, document findings, and recommend process improvements.
  • Conduct dimensional and visual inspections to verify product conformance and process control.
  • Utilize metrology equipment, including calipers, tape measures, dial indicators, and gauge blocks, to verify product measurements and quality requirements.
  • Train and support production employees on proper measurement techniques and quality standards.
  • Provide quality support and guidance to supervisors, leads, and production personnel.
  • Assist in the development, revision, and maintenance of operational procedures and work instructions.
  • Participate in corrective and preventive action activities to address quality issues and improve processes.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the company's Lean manufacturing culture.
  • Communicate quality concerns, trends, and opportunities for improvement to management and production teams.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, audit documentation, and quality reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year of manufacturing or production experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, work instructions, and inspection documents.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a technical, manufacturing, quality, or related field.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing quality role.
  • Experience with quality audits, inspections, and corrective action processes.
  • Experience using precision measuring and metrology equipment.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk on concrete floors for extended periods during the work shift.
  • Ability to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb stairs or ladders.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to operate measuring equipment and inspection tools.
  • Ability to visually inspect products and identify defects or quality issues.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, dust, and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toe footwear.
