Job Summary
The General Laborer is responsible for supporting daily operations throughout the shop and facility by safely moving materials, assisting with maintenance tasks, and performing general cleaning and upkeep projects. This role helps maintain an organized, efficient, and safe working environment for production and operations teams.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Move raw materials, parts, tools, and finished products between shop areas and buildings
- Load, unload, and transport materials using forklifts, pallet jacks, carts, or other equipment as needed
- Assist with organizing shop areas, storage locations, and workspaces
- Perform general shop cleaning duties, including sweeping, debris removal, and maintaining clean work areas
- Support facility maintenance projects and miscellaneous repair or upkeep tasks
- Assist production, warehouse, and maintenance personnel with various labor tasks as needed
- Remove scrap material, pallets, and waste from production areas
- Maintain outdoor areas around buildings, including cleanup and basic grounds maintenance
- Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA requirements
- Identify and report safety hazards, damaged equipment, or maintenance concerns
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment consistent with company standards
- Support special projects and other duties assigned by supervisors
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial environment preferred
- Forklift experience or ability to become certified preferred
- Ability to safely use basic hand tools and shop equipment
- Strong work ethic and willingness to assist in multiple areas of the facility
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs regularly
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and reach for extended periods
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions
- Ability to safely operate material handling equipment and tools
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
Work Environment
- Manufacturing and industrial shop environment
- Exposure to noise, moving equipment, dust, and varying temperatures
- May require overtime or weekend work as needed
