Responsibilities

• Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and other tools.
• Obtain prior authorization from insurance providers for dental procedures, ensuring timely approvals.
• Accurately code dental procedures using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes and ICD (International Classification of Diseases) codes (ICD-9, ICD-10) for billing purposes.
• Manage medical records and dental claims submissions while adhering to HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
• Follow up on unpaid claims, resolve billing discrepancies, and facilitate appeals as needed to maximize reimbursement.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of insurance verifications, authorizations, and billing activities in accordance with clinical confidentiality policies.
• Collaborate with office staff to ensure seamless coordination of insurance-related tasks and support excellent customer service for patients.

Skills

• Strong knowledge of health insurance policies, managed care processes, and medical billing procedures.
• Proficiency in medical coding including CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) management systems.
• Experience with insurance verification, prior authorization processes, and claims submission workflows.
• Excellent understanding of HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies to ensure compliance.
• Background in medical office or dental office experience is highly preferred to navigate the fast-paced healthcare environment effectively.
• Exceptional customer service skills to assist patients with insurance questions while maintaining professionalism and empathy.
