In this role, you’ll install, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic systems in both aerial and underground environments. You’ll work on critical infrastructure projects , travel frequently, and contribute to the reliability of communication networks that power modern life.

What You'll Do
As a Fiber Technician you will:
- Perform fusion and mechanical splicing of fiber optic cables
- Test and troubleshoot fiber using OTDRs, power meters, and related diagnostic tools
- Read and interpret splicing diagrams, network maps, and construction drawings
- Install enclosures, patch panels, and other fiber components
- Mentor and provide guidance to less‑experienced technicians on job sites
- Maintain accurate daily logs, documentation, and test records
- Work closely with project managers and field crews to meet schedules and quality standards
- Follow all company safety practices and site‑specific safety requirements
- Travel regularly for project assignments, including overnight stays
What You'll Bring
- 2–3 years of experience in fiber optic installation, splicing, and testing
- Strong understanding of fiber types, color codes, and industry standards
- Proficiency with OTDRs, power meters, VFLs, and related tools
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to work outdoors year‑round, lift 50 lbs, and work at heights or in confined spaces
- Strong attention to detail, work ethic, and commitment to safety
- OSHA 10 and CPR/First Aid certifications
- CDL or willingness to obtain one
- Experience in both underground and aerial fiber construction
- Leadership experience or ability to lead small crews
- Familiarity with GIS tools and digital job tracking platforms (iPads/tablets)
