Job Overview
Reliable Dental Assistant with X-ray license needed to work flexible hours in Somerville Genral Dental office. Part-time hours. 1-2 days per week. No weekends. Support established practice in providing high-quality treatments, ensuring patient comfort, and maintaining efficient dental office operations. Your role is vital in helping patients feel cared for and confident in their dental experience.
Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, materials and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly, following strict infection control protocols.
- Assist dentist chairside during a variety of general dental procedures by handing instruments and materials, maintaining equipment and supplies, managing suction devices, water lines and maintaining a clear operative field.
- Take X-rays using advanced imaging digital technology, ensuring accurate positioning and patient safety.
- Manage patient records efficiently using Dentrix Ascend electronic medical record (EMR) system while adhering to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
- Assist chairside with recording dental procedures and reviewing records to support comprehensive patient care.
- Provide assistance with aseptic techniquesto maintain optimum infection control and safety standards.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and dental terminology to enhance their understanding and comfort.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, updating files, recording documents, verifying insurance and answering phone.
- Assist with basic housekeeping and office cleanliness.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working as a Dental Assistant in a dental clinic environment with familiarity in general dentistry.
- Proficiency in EMR systems is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations related to medical records and patient privacy.
- Skilled in taking digital intraoral X-rays with knowledge of radiation safety protocols.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques essential for safe clinical practice.
- Ability to perform vital signs assessment and support chairside assisting during complex procedures across multiple specialties.
- Familiarity with medical documentation, dental coding processes, and electronic health record management is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills
- Certification in NJ dental radiology and CPR is required. Additional professional certification is welcome.
Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 6 – 14 per week
