Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and listen attentively to understand their vehicle concerns and service needs
- Write detailed service orders, including descriptions of issues such as transmissions, oil changes, brake repairs, alignments, suspension work, diesel engine repairs, shocks, air brake systems
- Collaborate with technicians to communicate repair recommendations and ensure accurate diagnostics using automotive diagnostics tool
- Prepare auto estimating documents and process repair orders efficiently while maintaining high accuracy
- Handle cash transactions securely and manage parts or service-related payments
- Provide excellent customer service by explaining repair options clearly and building trust with clients
Requirements
- Proven experience working in a dealership or auto service management environment as a Service Writer or similar role
- Strong knowledge of automotive repair procedures including mechanical knowledge of vehicle systems such as transmissions, suspensions, brakes, air brakes, alignments, oil changes, diesel engine repair, and fuel system repairs.
- Hands-on mechanic experience or familiarity with automotive diagnostics is highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer service and sales techniques
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a busy setting while maintaining attention to detail
- Experience with auto estimating software and cash handling procedures
- Knowledge of automobile sales processes is a plus but not required
