Outpatient Cardiovascular Surgery Center – Rockledge, Florida
Position Overview
The Business Administrator / Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for the full operational, clinical, and financial management of the outpatient surgery center. This leader ensures safe, high‑quality patient care; regulatory and accreditation compliance; strong physician and staff engagement; and efficient, profitable operations.
This role reports directly to the VP of Operations and the Facility Medical Director and serves as a key liaison between clinical staff, non‑clinical staff, physicians, and the Governing Body.
***Monday through Friday, No Weekends and No Holidays***
Key Responsibilities: Operational & Administrative Leadership
- Oversee day‑to‑day operations of all clinical and non‑clinical services.
- Serve as primary liaison to the Medical Staff and Governing Body.
- Lead planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating all programs and services.
- Ensure compliance with all licensure, certification, and regulatory requirements (AHCA, CMS, AAAHC).
- Maintain and update policies, procedures, and organizational plans.
- Report adverse events, infections, HIPAA breaches, medication issues, and patient/staff complaints through the appropriate channels.
Financial Management
- Manage annual operating and capital budgets in collaboration with the Medical Director.
- Oversee scheduling, insurance authorizations, coding, and reimbursement workflows.
- Monitor case profitability and resource utilization.
- Support negotiation and renewal of vendor and managed care contracts.
- Identify opportunities to increase revenue and reduce expenses.
Human Resources & Staff Development
- Recruit, hire, onboard, evaluate, and, when necessary, terminate staff.
- Maintain compliant personnel files and ensure adherence to federal and state labor laws.
- Promote staff education, competency development, and performance improvement.
- Oversee employee health, infection control, and OSHA compliance programs.
Patient Care Quality & Safety
- Uphold clinical standards of care and ensure patient rights, dignity, and safety.
- Participate in patient care committees and report quality outcomes to the Governing Body.
- Ensure compliance with Environment of Care, Life Safety, and Emergency Management standards.
- Maintain competency to assist clinically when needed.
Quality Management & QAPI
- Lead the QAPI program and participate in committees for:
- Infection Control
- Quality Indicators
- Peer Review
- Pharmacy & Medication Management
- Risk Management
- Report findings to the Medical Director at least quarterly.
Clinical Records & PHI Compliance
- Ensure confidentiality, integrity, and security of medical records.
- Oversee data collection, analysis, and reporting for clinical and operational decision‑making.
- Respond immediately to any PHI breach in coordination with the Risk Manager.
Environment of Care & Safety
- Maintain a safe, clean, and hazard‑free environment for patients and staff.
- Oversee equipment maintenance, life safety systems, and utility systems.
- Ensure staff are trained and compliant with the Emergency Management Plan.
- Monitor infection prevention processes and escalate concerns appropriately.
Pharmacy & Medication Management
- Oversee pharmacy operations in collaboration with the Pharmacy Consultant and DON.
- Ensure compliant ordering, storage, security, and handling of pharmaceuticals and controlled substances.
General Expectations
- Demonstrate professional conduct, leadership presence, and strong communication.
- Support marketing and business development initiatives to grow case volume.
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
QualificationsRequired
- RN license (for DON responsibilities) or equivalent clinical leadership experience.
- Experience in ASC operations, preferably in a procedural or cardiovascular environment.
- Strong knowledge of AHCA, CMS, and AAAHC regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated leadership in operations, finance, and staff management.
Preferred
- Prior experience as an ASC Administrator / DON.
- Experience with managed care contracting and revenue cycle workflows.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
