Credential/License Required (one of the following):

• Associate Marriage & Family Therapist (AMFT) - supervision provided
• Associate Social Worker (ASW) - supervision provided
• Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC)
• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
• Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT)
• Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)
• Pupil Personnel Services Credential (PPSC)

Experience/Knowledge Required:

• Experience providing Mental Health Counseling to middle and/or high school age students, preferably within the school setting.
• Comprehensive knowledge of policies and bulletins related to suicide prevention/intervention/post-vention, crisis intervention and response, threat assessment, and other relevant documents.
• Hold specialized knowledge of the effect of social, cultural, ethnic and emotional forces in children that affect the learning process.
• Knowledge of evidence-based practices in counseling provision and a strong theoretical orientation
• Knowledge of special education and ERMHS (preferred)
• Knowledge of SEIS (preferred)

Responsibilities:

• Under the direction of the Mental Health Clinical Supervisor, provide Educationally Related Mental Health Services (ERMHS) to students in special education in-person in middle and high school settings. ERMHS include individual counseling, counseling and guidance, psychological services, social work services and parent counseling/training (see next page for specifics). The purpose of ERMHS are to allow students with ongoing mental health needs to access and benefit from his or her education. ERMHS are intended to specifically support skills required for the student to access the educational environment.
• Efforts to support positive school climate and staff well-being.
• Short-term individual counseling implementing targeted evidence-based interventions matched to student’s skill-based needs for a predetermined amount of time:
• Facilitate conflict resolution groups
• Facilitate parent conferences for the purpose of informing concerned parents about supporting their student’s behavioral, and mental health goals as they currently impact students’ achievement
• Participate as a member of a Multi-Tiered System of Support Team

Pay/Benefits:

• Associate Marriage & Family Therapist, Associate Social Worker, Counseling Intern, School Psychologist Intern: $44-50 per hour starting depending on experience
• (Associates may earn up to $55/hr after at least a year of employment with the agency)
• Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor: $60-$65 per hour starting depending on experience
• (Licensed Clinicians may earn further increases after at least a year of employment with the agency)
• Paid sick time based on accrual (30 hours worked = 1 hour of sick time)
• Paid vacation for full time employees based on accrual (30 hours worked = 1 hour vacation)

Job Type:

This position is for the 2026-2027 school year.

• Part time: We are hiring part time clinicians for 2 days per week in our Daly City location or 3 days per week in our Redwood City location.
• Full time: We are open to hiring a single full time clinician to cover both the Redwood City and Daly City locations, 5 days per week.

Work Location:

We currently have openings in both Redwood City and Daly City, CA.

Appendix

Individual Counseling (510) refers to one-to-one counseling, provided by a qualified individual pursuant to an IEP:

• Counseling may focus on such student aspects as education, career, personal, or be with parents or staff members on learning problems or guidance programs for students.
• These services are expected to supplement the regular guidance and counseling program.

Counseling and Guidance (515) refers to counseling in a group setting, provided by a qualified individual pursuant to an IEP:

• Group counseling is typically social skills development, but may focus on such student aspects as education, career, personal, or be with parents or staff members on learning problems or guidance programs for students.
• IEP required group counseling is expected to supplement the regular guidance and counseling program.
• Guidance services include interpersonal, intrapersonal, or family interventions, performed in an individual or group setting by a qualified individual pursuant to an IEP.
• Specific programs include social skills development, self-esteem building, parent training, and assistance to special education students supervised by staff credentialed to serve special education students.
• These services are expected to supplement the regular guidance and counseling program.

Parent Counseling and Training (520) may include:

• Assisting parents in understanding their child’s special needs.
• Providing parents with information about child development.
• IEP required parent counseling is intended to supplement the regular guidance and counseling program.

Social Work Services (525), provided by a qualified individual pursuant to an IEP, include, but are not limited to:

• Preparing a social or developmental history of a child with a disability.
• Group and individual counseling with the child and family.
• Working with those problems in a child's living situation (home, school, and community) that affect the child's adjustment in school.
• Mobilizing school and community resources to enable the child to learn as effectively as possible in his or her educational program. Social work services are expected to supplement the regular guidance and counseling program.

Psychological services (530) may include:

• Counseling provided to an individual with exceptional needs by a credentialed or licensed psychologist or other qualified personnel.
• Consultative services to parents, pupils, teachers, and other school personnel.
• Planning and implementing a program of psychological counseling for individuals with exceptional needs and parents.
• Assisting in developing positive behavioral intervention strategies.
• This term does not include assessment services or IEP development.

Pay: $46.00 - $65.00 per hour
