About the Role:
UAB Medical West is seeking a customer-focused Cafeteria Cashier to join our Food & Nutrition Services team. The Cafeteria Cashier is responsible for providing excellent customer service, processing transactions accurately, maintaining a clean work area, and supporting daily cafeteria operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certified Food Handler Card within 21 days of employment.
- Basic math and cash-handling skills.
- Strong customer service and communication abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous cashier, retail, food service, or customer service experience.
- Experience using point-of-sale (POS) systems.
Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist customers in a courteous and professional manner.
- Accurately process cash, credit card, and electronic transactions.
- Operate cash register and point-of-sale (POS) systems.
- Balance cash drawer and complete end-of-shift reconciliation.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of cashier and dining areas.
- Restock supplies and assist with cafeteria operations as needed.
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and infection-control guidelines.
- Comply with all organizational policies and procedures.
Skills:
The successful candidate must possess excellent customer service skills and the ability to interact professionally and courteously with patients, visitors, and staff.
