Bar Back

About the Role:

The Bar Back plays a crucial support role within the bar team, ensuring that bartenders have everything they need to provide excellent service efficiently. This position focuses on maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the bar area, restocking supplies, and assisting with the preparation of beverages and garnishes. The Bar Back helps create a seamless customer experience by anticipating the needs of bartenders and customers alike, allowing bartenders to focus on mixing and serving drinks. Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years old in accordance with local and state laws.
• Previous experience in a fast-paced hospitality or bar environment is preferred but not required.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting heavy boxes and moving kegs.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team.
• Basic knowledge of bar operations and beverage service etiquette.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working as a Bar Back or in a similar support role within a bar or restaurant.
• Familiarity with health and safety regulations related to food and beverage service.
• Certification in responsible alcohol service (e.g., TIPS or equivalent).
• Ability to multitask effectively in a high-volume environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

• Restock bar inventory including liquor, beer, wine, mixers, and garnishes to ensure bartenders have adequate supplies throughout the shift.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, including washing glassware, cleaning surfaces, and disposing of trash promptly.
• Assist bartenders by preparing ingredients such as cutting fruit, filling ice bins, and setting up bar stations before and during service.
• Monitor and replenish supplies such as napkins, straws, and glassware to maintain a well-stocked and efficient bar environment.
• Support the bar team by running errands, such as retrieving additional stock from storage or assisting with deliveries, to keep operations running smoothly.

The Bar Back uses strong organizational skills daily to keep the bar area well-stocked and orderly, which directly supports bartenders in delivering prompt service. Physical stamina and the ability to multitask are essential, as the role involves continuous movement, lifting, and managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
