Here’s what you’ll be responsible for:
- Review upcoming banquet event orders (BEOs) to ensure thorough understanding of all requirements and proper execution of guest requests.
- Assist the Assistant Director of Conference Operations in identifying, developing, and evaluating strategies to increase revenue, control costs, and ensure guest satisfaction.
- Work directly with clients and adjust specifications as necessary to ensure all details are correct, and handle client complaints and requests in a timely manner.
- Observe, direct, and assist service staff during client events.
- Assist hiring, training, coaching, and issuing discipline as needed and ensure staffing levels are adequate and meet budget requirements.
Requirements: High school diploma and minimum of two years’ in a lead/supervisory role in the food service industry. Knowledge of Iowa Department of Health & Sanitation laws and regulations, as well as Iowa Beverage laws. Experience with collective bargaining environments preferred. Must understand inventory procedures and inventory control. Strong organizational, multi-tasking, training and customer service skills required. Must be able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Must be detail oriented and creative. Must be able to communicate detailed information, both verbally and in writing, with people of diverse backgrounds. Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and experience with labor controls and productivity-based scheduling preferred. Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and push carts up to 150 lbs. Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and varied hours.
