What are the responsibilities and job description for the Permitting Manager & City Liaison position at ADORE Homes Inc.?
Job Title: Permitting Manager & City Liaison
Location: Campbell, CA
Reports to: COO
Role Overview
Let’s be real: The California housing market is broken, and the "red tape" is why. At ADORE Homes, we aren’t just building ADUs; we are hacking the system to get more people into homes. We’re looking for a Permitting Manager & City Liaison who loves the "chess match" of municipal codes.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role. You aren't just sitting in meetings delegating tasks—you are the engine. You’ll be the face of ADORE at city counters across the Bay Area, the person who knows the planners by name, and the expert who turns a "no" into a "yes." If you love the hustle of a dynamic startup environment and want to use modern tools to streamline old-school bureaucracy, you belong here.
What You’ll Actually Do (The Hands-On Reality)
Own the Pipeline: Manage the end-to-end submission process for 80 jurisdictions. You’ll personally handle the filing, tracking, and pushing of permit applications through the finish line.
Negotiate & Solve: Meet 1-on-1 with City Planners and Building Officials. When a city sends back comments, you don’t just pass them along—you dive in, troubleshoot, and negotiate solutions.
Field Collaboration: Work side-by-side with our Project Managers. You’ll grab field data, check site-specific constraints, and ensure what we’re designing is actually what we can build.
Tech-Driven Workflow: We don't do paper-pushing for the sake of it. You’ll use our internal project management stack and digital tools to automate status updates and keep the whole team synced in real-time.
Stay Agile: The Bay Area regulatory landscape changes weekly. You’ll stay ahead of the curve on ADU laws (SB-9, etc.) to ensure ADORE remains the fastest in the game.
Who You Are
A "Mover": You get bored sitting behind a desk for 8 hours. You enjoy being out in the field and at City Halls across the Bay.
A Negotiator: You can navigate "red tape" with a smile and a solutions-oriented mindset. You know how to build bridges with city staff.
Tech-Savvy: You’re comfortable with modern project management software, Slack, and geospatial tools. You believe there’s an app or a better workflow for everything.
Experienced: Minimum of 5-10 years in urban planning, land use, or construction permitting in California. You know the difference between a setback and a utility easement like the back of your hand.
Mission-Minded: You’re frustrated by the housing crisis and want to be part of the solution.
ADORE Homes is a high-growth residential construction firm disrupting the Bay Area housing market. From high-end ADUs to custom luxury builds, we combine precision engineering with a tech-forward management style. We are looking for a construction field leader who wants to build more than just houses - they want to build the future of the industry.
THE MISSION: OWN THE JOBSITE. PROTECT THE SCHEDULE. LEVERAGE THE TECH.
We aren’t looking for someone to just "watch" a jobsite. We need a Field Representative who operates with a "solutions-first" mindset. You will report directly to the founding partners, taking full ownership of project execution from the first shovel in the ground to the final walkthrough.
Salary : $80,000 - $100,000
