This is a part-time, temporary, at-will position that is not governed by the selection processes of the Judicial Branch or the Colorado State classified personnel systems. The position is not eligible for benefits.


About the Colorado Office of Public Guardianship (OPG):The Colorado Office of Public Guardianship (OPG) provides guardianship services to eligible indigent and incapacitated adult individuals who have no responsible family members or friends who are available and appropriate to serve as guardian; lack adequate resources to compensate a private guardian and pay the costs associated with an appointment proceeding; and are not subject to a petition for appointment of guardian filed by a county adult protective services unit or otherwise authorized by C.R.S. 26-3.1-104. The OPG is mandated to be statewide by December 31, 2030.

About the Role: The Colorado Office of Public Guardianship (OPG) is accepting applications for one (1) part-time Community Engagement Coordinator. This temporary position is responsible for leading outreach and partnership efforts that support our mission and statewide growth. In this role, you will develop and carry out marketing strategies, represent OPG at events across Colorado, and build relationships with key partners such as courts, hospitals, residential facilities, nonprofits, and government agencies.


Key Responsibility Summary: This part-time, temporary role will be responsible for turning outreach goals into action. This includes planning and executing engagement strategies, creating compelling marketing and communication materials, and ensuring OPG has a visible and trusted presence in communities across Colorado. The role involves representing the organization at events, forums, and workshops, while also maintaining strong, ongoing relationships with courts, hospitals, service providers, nonprofits, and government agencies. The coordinator will oversee OPGs social media and public-facing communications, track engagement outcomes, and provide regular updates to leadership. In addition, the position will recruit, train, and support volunteers who contribute to community initiatives.


Reports to:Executive Director of the Office of Public Guardianship


Essential Job Functions

  • Develop and implement outreach strategies that support statewide expansion and increase awareness of OPGs programs and services.
  • Plan, organize, and participate in local and statewide events, workshops, and public forums to promote the mission and build community trust.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with courts, hospitals, residential facilities, adult day programs, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Create and manage marketing materials, including press releases, email campaigns, social media content, and print collateral.
  • Oversee OPGs online presence by generating content, managing communications, and responding to inquiries.
  • Track engagement activities, maintain accurate records, and prepare regular reports for leadership.
  • Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers to support outreach efforts.
  • Ensure all community interactions are inclusive, culturally sensitive, and respectful.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned and appropriate to the scope of a part-time, temporary position.

Required Competencies
The ideal candidate will have the ability to design and deliver effective outreach strategies that engage diverse audiences and build strong community partnerships. This role requires creativity, adaptability, and strong organizational skills, along with the ability to balance multiple projects and meet deadlines. Clear written and verbal communication, cultural sensitivity, and confidence in public speaking are essential. The candidate should also demonstrate skill in creating compelling digital content, managing a social media presence, and producing marketing materials that reflect OPGs mission. A commitment to inclusive practices, attention to detail, and the ability to represent OPG with professionalism and integrity are critical for success.


Minimum Qualifications

Experience Only:
Six (6) years of relevant experience in marketing, communications, or community engagement that includes:

  • Developing and executing outreach or marketing strategies.
  • Creating marketing materials using Canva or similar design software.
  • Managing social media presence and online communications.
  • Creating and managing budgets.
  • Building and maintaining partnerships with diverse stakeholders such as nonprofits, healthcare providers, or government agencies.
  • Preparing reports and presenting information to leadership or the public.
  • Demonstrating strong written, interpersonal, and public speaking skills.
  • Working with or supporting vulnerable adult populations.

OR

Education and Experience:
A bachelors degree (4 years) from an accredited institution in marketing, communications, public relations, social work, nonprofit management, or a related field plus two (2) years of relevant professional experience in marketing, communications, or community engagement that includes:

  • Developing and executing outreach or marketing strategies.
  • Creating marketing materials using Canva or similar design software.
  • Managing social media presence and online communications.
  • Creating and managing budgets.
  • Building and maintaining partnerships with diverse stakeholders.



Education Substitution:
Appropriate education may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis as follows:

  • Associate degree = two (2) years of experience
  • Bachelors degree = four (4) years of experience
  • Masters degree = six (6) years of experience
  • Doctorate degree = seven (7) years of experience



Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in social work, medical, or nonprofit environments.
  • Familiarity with Colorados legal, healthcare, or human services systems.
  • Demonstrated success in recruiting, training, or coordinating volunteers.
  • Experience engaging diverse or underrepresented populations in community programs.
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills.


Additional Information:

  • Location and Work Hours:This is a part-time, temporary position based in Denver, Colorado. Potential hybrid work schedule available.
  • Conditions of Employment:
    • Must have the ability and flexible availability to travel state-wide.
    • This position is open only to Colorado residents.
    • Successfully pass a criminal and personal background check.
