What are the responsibilities and job description for the Support Services Specialist position at Administrative Facilities Services Division?

This position is located at Bureau of the Fiscal Service, Administrative Facilities Services Division. As a Support Services Specialist, you will be responsible for implementing a variety of programs including, but not limited to, building, space, and parking management, health and safety, housekeeping, mail services, and supply/property management.
Qualifications:
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your résumé.
For the GS-11, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is: Planning and coordinating a variety of support services for a facility or program, and interpreting and providing guidance on related policies and procedures.
Examples of such experience could include:
-Experience that included responsibility for directing a variety of support functions such as property management, facilities, parking, mail services, safety programs, supply management etc. OR
-Administrative work that included maintaining on-line records or websites; or other work that demonstrated knowledge of policies, regulations, and procedures related to support services operations OR
-Conducting inspections of facilities to report findings; OR
-Coordinating space reconfiguration projects or physical moves; OR
OR
You may qualify with a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree that demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work. Graduate work must be in one of the following major fields of study: public administration, business administration, industrial engineering, industrial management, or other administrative or management fields related to the position to be filled.
OR
You may qualify on a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 36 semester hours (54 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.
For the GS-9, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is: Assisting with a variety of support services such as logistical operations, communications, procurement of supplies and equipment, property management and disposal, equipment maintenance, safety, or transportation to resolve operational or administrative problems.
Examples of such experience could include:
- Experience utilizing performance metrics and analytical skills throughout the entire process to effectively monitor all logistical operations; OR
- Experience managing support service activities, information flow, and advisory functions related to logistical programs to ensure customer service expectations are met; OR
- Experience analyzing interrelated support services issues for effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity of substantive mission-oriented programs.

You may qualify with a Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. ( Please attach a copy of your transcript or list of college courses designating semester or quarter hours earned to ensure proper credit)
OR
You may qualify on a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 18 semester hours (27 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-11, you must have been at the GS-9 level for 52 weeks.
For the GS-9, you must have been at the GS-7 level for 52 weeks.
Responsibilities:
As a Support Services Specialist, you will:- Implement a variety of programs including, but not limited to, building management, space management, parking management, health and safety, housekeeping, mail services, and supply/property management.
- Coordinate physical moves and space reconfiguration projects with contractors and affectedemployees to ensure all aspects of the project are implemented properly.
- Develop new or modified work methods, organizational structures, records and files, management processes, staffing patterns, procedures for administering program services, and/or automate work processes for improvement in the conduct of support services functions.
- Gather information, identify and analyze issues, and develop recommendations to resolve substantive problems of effectiveness and efficiency of physical security, health and safety, facilities maintenance, and space management operations.
