POSITION TITLE: Teacher Retention Specialist
EXEMPTION STATUS: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Deputy Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 months 2025-2026 school year
Primary Purpose:
Provide support for campuses working to meet school improvement targeted areas. Assist campus staff in addressing school improvement needs required by the Texas Accountability for School Improvement. Significantly more than half of employment time is utilized in providing direct services to campuses.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate
Master’s degree, preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills
Strong organizational, communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and public relations skills Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to interpret data and evaluate instructional programs, campus leadership and teaching effectiveness Ability to implement policy and procedures
Experience:
Minimum five years classroom teacher experience
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional and Program Management
- Monitor instructional delivery through coaching and mentoring protocols.
- Lead and support efforts to implement the District’s Teaching and Learning Plan.
- Assist with evaluation of programs and services on a regular, systematic basis and make recommendations for school-wide program improvements.
- Collaborate with District and campus leaders on universal instruction, targeted prevention, and intensive, individualized prevention for a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS).
School Improvement
- Assist in coordinating school improvement while working under the direct supervision of the Deputy Superintendent.
- Assist campus staff in addressing school improvement needs required by the Texas Accountability for School Improvement.
- Monitor District and campus performance on the state accountability system.
Policy, Reports and Law
- Implement policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local policy.
- Prepare, submit and maintain reports, records, and other documents, as needed.
Professional Growth and Development
- Participate in professional learning programs to improve job performance; share ideas and information with other educators; and provide leadership in identifying best practices, trends, and opportunities for growth and improvement in curriculum and instruction.
- Routinely conference with the curriculum and instruction team to ensure aligned systems and processes for a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS).
- Assist in planning effective professional learning for campus leaders and instructional staff, and secure consultants and other resources, as needed.
Communication
- Articulate the district’s mission, instructional philosophy, and curriculum implementation to principals and solicit their support in realizing the mission.
- Adhere to the District’s standards of conduct and the educator’s code of ethics.
