Primary Function
The job of Director of School and Community Relations is done for the purpose/s of leading the development and execution of a comprehensive communication, marketing, and community engagement strategy for Warren Consolidated Schools. The position is responsible for promoting the District’s programs, services, achievements, and opportunities through a variety of communication platforms and outreach efforts; strengthening relationships with current and prospective students, families, staff, community members, and media partners; increasing awareness of the District’s value and offerings; and supporting a positive, welcoming, and engaging public image of Warren Consolidated Schools. The Director of School and Community Relations serves as a key ambassador and promoter of the District.

Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or a related field required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated success in public relations, communications, marketing, community engagement, or a closely related field required.
- Previous experience in a school district preferred.
- Experience writing and producing publications, newsletters, press releases, website content, and other communications for print, digital, and media distribution required.
- Experience planning and promoting events, campaigns, and community outreach initiatives preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilites
- Attend Board of Education meetings for the purpose of recognitions, communications and other board agenda
- Attend school and District events, performances, celebrations, informational meetings, and other public-facing activities as needed for the purpose of representing the District, capturing and sharing District stories, supporting event success, and increasing visibility of Warren Consolidated Schools.
- Collaborate with school and District departments that serve students and families, including enrollment and student service functions, for the purpose of improving customer service, strengthening family communications, ensuring a welcoming and responsive experience for new and prospective families, and promoting a positive first impression of the District.
- Coordinate District advertising efforts across print, radio, digital, social media, and other communication channels for the purpose of promoting the District, increasing visibility of programs and events, and reaching current and prospective families in effective and targeted ways.
- Create and oversee strategic communication campaigns highlighting the District’s academic programs, extracurricular opportunities, student services, special events, and points of pride for the purpose of increasing public awareness of the District’s offerings and positioning Warren Consolidated Schools as a premier choice for families.
- Design, coordinate, and oversee the development and distribution of marketing materials including brochures, flyers, posters, digital graphics, displays, advertisements, videos, and other promotional content for the purpose of communicating key District messages in a professional, consistent, and engaging manner.
- Develop and implement outreach strategies for prospective students and families, including creative enrollment and recruitment efforts for the purpose of increasing interest in Warren Consolidated Schools, improving enrollment, and ensuring families understand the opportunities available within the District.
- Develop, implement, and continuously refine a District-wide communications, marketing, and community engagement plan for the purpose of promoting Warren Consolidated Schools, increasing community awareness, strengthening the District’s brand, and supporting student recruitment and retention efforts.
- Develop, monitor, and manage the School and Community Relations budget for the purpose of ensuring resources are allocated effectively and communication, marketing, and community engagement priorities are achieved in a fiscally responsible manner.
- Ensure District transparency, public notice, website posting, and state/federal communication-related reporting requirements are met for the purpose of maintaining compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and Board expectations.
- Gather feedback from current and former students and families, including those who enroll elsewhere or leave the District, for the purpose of identifying barriers, understanding perceptions of the District, and making improvements to communication and customer service.
- Identify opportunities to improve the experience of families interacting with the District, especially during enrollment, registration, and school transition processes, for the purpose of reducing barriers to access, supporting family engagement, and ensuring all families are treated with professionalism, patience, and respect.
- Lead or support the planning, promotion, and execution of District-wide special events, community engagement activities, recruiting events, recognition programs, and volunteer initiatives for the purpose of strengthening school-community connections, celebrating District accomplishments, and creating memorable experiences that reflect positively on Warren Consolidated Schools.
- Maintain ownership and strategic oversight of the District website and related digital communication platforms for the purpose of ensuring information is accurate, timely, user-friendly, visually engaging, and aligned with the District’s communication and branding goals.
- Monitor communication trends, stakeholder feedback, and public perception of the District for the purpose of recommending improvements, proactively addressing concerns, and strengthening the District’s reputation and engagement with the community.
- Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of supporting the overall communication, marketing, and community engagement goals of Warren Consolidated Schools.
- Prepare, coordinate, and distribute District news releases, newsletters, feature stories, announcements, and other communication materials for the purpose of keeping students, families, staff, prospective families, community members, and media partners informed of District programs, achievements, events, and initiatives.
- Provide communication guidance, messaging support, and customer-service oriented recommendations to administrators and departments for the purpose of promoting consistency in District messaging, strengthening stakeholder relationships, and aligning interactions with the District’s values and service expectations.
- Review, recommend revisions to, and assist in the implementation of Board policies and administrative guidelines related to school and community relations, communications, public information, and marketing for the purpose of ensuring District practices remain current, effective, and aligned with Board priorities and legal requirements.
- Serve as a District spokesperson and media liaison, as assigned, for the purpose of responding to inquiries, communicating District information accurately and professionally, and representing Warren Consolidated Schools in a positive and credible manner.
- Support communication and outreach related to bond, millage, and other District initiatives, in accordance with legal requirements and administrative direction, for the purpose of ensuring factual, timely, and accessible information is shared with stakeholders regarding District needs, projects, and proposals.
