Albert D. Lawton Middle School is seeking a skilled and dependable accompanist for its upcoming musical production. The accompanist will collaborate with the musical director, production team, and student performers to support rehearsals and performances.
Responsibilities
- Accompany vocal rehearsals, run-throughs, and performances.
- Learn and prepare the musical score before and throughout the rehearsal process.
- Collaborate with the musical director on tempos, cues, cuts, and other musical needs.
- Support middle school students as they learn and rehearse their vocal parts.
- Attend scheduled rehearsals, technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and performances.
- Communicate promptly with the musical director regarding scheduling or production needs.
- Help create a positive, inclusive, and encouraging environment for student performers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong piano and sight-reading skills.
- Experience accompanying musical theater, choirs, or vocal performers.
- Ability to follow a conductor and adapt to changes during rehearsals and performances.
- Experience working with middle school students is preferred.
- Dependability, flexibility, patience, and strong collaborative skills.
- Ability to meet all district background-check and employment requirements.
Compensation
This position pays a stipend of $2,440 upon successful completion of the assignment, in accordance with district procedures.
