Job Description: MOLD SETTER

Dept: Production

Report To: Process Leader

2nd Shift

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The basic function of the Mold Setter is to apply set up techniques to achieve acceptable molded product while maintaining machines and molds. The Mold Setter is to attend to assigned duties and responsibilities and maintain accuracy standards in production in accordance with stated requirements and IATF16949 standards.

REQUIREMENTS

Education

Required: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

Preferred: Same

Licensing/Registration/Certification

Required: Adkev, Inc. equipment and skills certifications as required (forklift, pallet jack, dryers, hoppers, grinders)

Preferred: Same

Experience

Required: 6 months Setup Prep at Adkev, Inc. or equivalent mechanical experience

Preferred: Same

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Knowledge of areas of production to include production presses, dryers, grinder and general maintenance tools
• Ability to work closely with groups of people, including company employees at all levels, suppliers, competitors, sub-contractors and other outside professionals with whom the company deals with on a regular basis
• Ability to operate radios, Motan Material Handling system, man lift, loaders, pre-dryers, and other specialized production equipment
• Ability to operate as a ‘trusted agent’ in which full confidentiality and strict ethical business standards are to be observed
• Ability to work extended hours, odd hours, weekends, as required to cover for overtime and absence of other Set-Up Prep personnel
• Ability to follow safe work practices, including lockout/tag out and safety harnesses

Physical

Body Position:

This position requires the ability to stand, walk and climb for prolonged periods of time. This position requires the ability to lift up to 70 pounds. This position requires the ability of eyesight (corrected) to include normal color acuity, full use of limbs, hearing (corrected) and ability to use handheld radio. This position requires the ability to physically perform all aspects of the job without significant accommodation.

Body Movement:

This position requires the physical dexterity and ability to negotiate around an office area, warehouse, manufacturing equipment and around a crowded and busy working area.

Mental

Mathematics: This position requires average math skills.

Language: This position requires the ability to read, write, and speak English. Must write legibly. Must be able to communicate with others.

Human relations skills

This position requires the ability to communicate with and maintain positive interpersonal skills with all members of the organization.

Working Conditions

Adkev, Inc. makes every effort to provide a pleasant environmentally controlled working atmosphere. However, on occasion, the position may require visiting customers, vendors, or outside professionals for which the company has no control of their environment.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

The Mold Setter directly reports to and is accountable to the Set-Up Coordinator. The Mold Setter will have secondary reporting to the Shift Leader.

RESPONSIBILITY AND DUTIES

• Retrieve and set molds
• Set-up molds
• Verify quality of product at start of production
• Train and assist set-up preps, as required
• Perform in-process mold cleanings, as scheduled
• Log information in Mattec
• Set process parameters in presses during change-overs
• Tag last shot
• Clean grinders and hoppers daily; unclog grinders using proper lockout procedures
• Clean equipment filters at presses as production demands
• Perform color and material changes at production presses as directed by Set-Up Coordinator; properly loading, unloading and identifying materials used
• Learn and complete proper mold and equipment storage
• Perform startup, shutdown and restart procedures on presses following proper procedures
• Maintain machinery to insure a safe and productive workplace (i.e. vacuum

hoses, grinder blades, circulators, dryers, and mold heaters)

• Learn and maintain Motan Alarm system; 1st responder for alarms; maintain housekeeping in Motan area
• Meet intermediate safety training requirements: follow established safety practices and policies with zero safety violations
• Maintain proficiency and certification on all items contained within this and proceeding task and duty descriptions
• Support and maintain 5S housekeeping standards
• Perform other duties as required by Management
• Work overtime as needed with little or no notice to cover vacations/call-offs
• Work rotating schedule for Saturday preventative maintenance
• Train to respond to press alarms
• Adhere to Adkev, Inc. policies, procedures, and instructions
• Adhere to Adkev, Inc.’s No Fault Attendance Policy

MEASUREMENTS OF PERFORMANCE

The Mold Setter will be considered as performing in a satisfactory manner when the following are accomplished:

• When the above responsibilities and duties are accomplished in a timely and effective manner
• The output of the position is accomplished on time in accordance of efficient scheduling and sufficient resources
• Compliance with all safety and regulatory issues
• Maintain personal certifications to include professional certifications

· IATF16949/ISO14001 standards, process, or duties assigned are performed as defined within Adkev Inc.’s IATF16949/ISO14001 program parameters
