Under general guidance and direction, provides professional level laboratory technical support and assistance.
All aspects of the job involve clinical laboratory methods and techniques. Assists in training students in clinical laboratory science and procedures; maintains equipment and performs maintenance as needed. Delivers prepared lectures in absence of lead instructors; assists in setting student laboratories; works alongside instructors assisting students during wet labs; performs generalized clerical duties; works with specialized laboratory equipment and performs related duties as assigned. Assists and completes the breakdown of student labs, assisting instructors with training of students during lab performance, and ongoing projects to enhance student laboratory experiences.
The candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of one year of laboratory work experience. Some positions may require additional skills, education and experience. Occupational experience must meet the current requirements of the appropriate licensing boards for the area of instruction. Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Requires knowledge of clinical laboratory procedures. Must understand the fundamentals of clinical laboratory science to include: Urinalysis, Body Fluids, Immunology, Serology, Hematology, Coagulation, Clinical Chemistry, Immunohematology, and Microbiology.
Requires knowledge of how to read and understand technical documents; perform basic laboratory procedures and tests; operate and maintain clinical laboratory equipment.
Requires the ability to record and maintain data in computerized and non-computerized formats.
