Position Summary:

The Medical Staff Recruiter is responsible for the full-cycle recruitment of physicians, advanced practice providers (APPs), and other licensed medical professionals. This position partners with clinical and administrative leadership to identify staffing needs, develop recruitment strategies, source qualified candidates, coordinate interviews, and facilitate the hiring and onboarding process.

 

The Medical Staff Recruiter serves as an ambassador for the organization, ensuring positive candidate experience while supporting organizational growth and Medical Staff retention initiatives.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Recruitment & Talent Acquisition

  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies for Medical Staff members in collaboration with the VP Physician Contracting and Chief Medical Officer.
  • Partner with administration, medical leadership, department heads, practice administrators, and hiring managers to assess provider staffing needs.
  • Source candidates through job boards, professional associations, residency and fellowship programs, networking events, and direct outreach.
  • Conduct candidate screening interviews to evaluate qualifications, experience, and organizational fit.
  • Coordinate interview schedules, site visits, travel arrangements, and itineraries. Site visits will occasionally require work outside of regular business hours.
  • Facilitate communication between candidates and hiring leaders throughout the recruitment process.
  • Develop and maintain recruitment advertising and marketing materials, in coordination with the marketing department and other stakeholders as applicable.

 

Candidate Management, Onboarding & Retention

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Medical Staff candidates, ensuring professional and positive candidate experiences from initial contact through onboarding.
  • Assist with employment offer preparation and communication, including providing candidates with information regarding the organization, community, compensation structure, benefits, and professional opportunities.
  • Coordinate onboarding activities for newly hired providers, track onboarding milestones, and ensure completion of required documentation.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and departmental leaders to facilitate a smooth transition for new Medical Staff members.
  • Coordinate new provider orientation with internal stakeholders and department leaders.
  • Support provider retention initiatives and may participate in exit interviews when necessary.
  • Coordinate temporary (locum tenens and/or per diem) coverage as needed.
  • Assist with physician and provider payments (i.e. call payments, reimbursements, per diem payments).

 

Compliance & Administration

  • Maintain recruiting records and documentation in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality of candidate, provider, and organizational information.
  • Prepare periodic recruitment activity reports for leadership and the Board of Trustees.
  • Assist with Medical Staff workforce planning and succession planning initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with the Medical Staff Office.

 

Professional Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate excellent judgment, professionalism, and discretion.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with medical staff, leadership, and both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support and maintain a culture of safety, service excellence, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of healthcare recruitment experience, with a preference for  recruitment experience of physicians, advanced practice providers, or other healthcare professionals.
  • Knowledge of healthcare workforce trends and recruiting practices.
  • Strong understanding of employment laws and recruitment compliance requirements.
  • Preference may be given to those with:
    • Certified Physician/Provider Recruitment Professional (CPRP) or similar professional certification.
    • Membership in healthcare recruitment organizations such as AAPPR (Association for Advancing Physician and Provider Recruitment).
    • Other applicable advanced degree or significant experience.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, applicant tracking systems, and HR information systems.

Salary Range:

$60,000 to $90,000 Annual Equivalent
