We’re seeking a board-certified Pulmonology & Critical Care physician to provide in-house, 24-hour call coverage at a Longview, TX hospital. This locum tenens role focuses on inpatient care with both clinical duties and call responsibilities, starting September 4, 2026 and continuing on an ongoing basis. The typical shift is 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 a.m. (24-hour call) with a 30-minute response expectation.

What you’ll be doing:
- Provide 24-hour in-house pulmonary and critical care coverage for the ICU and hospital consults.
- Manage ventilator and respiratory failure cases using both invasive and non-invasive strategies.
- Perform bronchoscopies, thoracenteses, chest tube placements, pleural biopsies, pleurodesis, and other advanced pulmonary procedures.
- Handle critical care scenarios including cardiac/respiratory arrest, sepsis, metabolic and renal failure, trauma, burns, and overdoses.
- Place and manage invasive lines and devices such as central lines, arterial lines, pulmonary artery catheters, IABP, temporary pacemakers, dialysis catheters, and perform ICP evaluation/management.
- Round on ICU patients, provide consults across services, and respond to in-hospital emergencies.
- Interpret and perform pulmonary function testing.
Patient and facility details:
- Average daily census: ~15 patients/day with about 3 admissions/day.
- Rounding: Both ICU and consults.
- EMR: Athena/Medhost.
- Mid-level support: 4 PAs/NPs available.
Privileges, licensing, and credentials:
- Hospital temporary privileges available; hospital privileges not required beforehand.
- Must be Board Certified in Pulmonology & Critical Care.
- TX medical license or an active Universal License under the IMLC.
- Fellowship in Pulmonary/Critical Care required.
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, ATLS, PALS, ABLS.
Logistics:
- This assignment is supplemental coverage.
- Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are provided by the staffing agency.
