We’re looking for an experienced Orientation & Mobility Specialist to join a school team in Rockville, Maryland to work with K–12 students who are visually impaired. You’ll help students build independence, travel safely, and access both school and community environments with confidence.

What we’re looking for
- Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) credential from ACVREP
- Proven experience working with school-age students who are visually impaired
- Valid driver’s license
What you’ll do
- Carry out formal O&M assessments and write clear evaluation reports
- Recommend orientation and mobility goals for IEPs
- Provide hands-on instruction in indoor and outdoor navigation, cane skills, sighted-guide techniques, sensory efficiency, and community travel
- Teach and support student use of public transportation and other community resources
- Collaborate regularly with TVIs, classroom teachers, and other members of the educational team
- Attend IEP meetings, annual reviews, and eligibility meetings to share assessment results and recommendations
- Maintain routine paperwork, make parent contacts, and provide consultation as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the role
