Job Description: As a Middle School Math Teacher at Adelante, you are key in developing our scholars' mathematical understanding and problem-solving skills during these critical middle school years. Your mission is to engage scholars with the fascinating world of mathematics, from foundational concepts to more complex equations and theories, encouraging a deep appreciation for the subject.

Armed with Adelante's array of educational tools, including digital resources, interactive software, and a curriculum rich in real-world applications, you're tasked with leading lessons that are both challenging and accessible. This approach aims to demystify math, showing students its relevance in everyday life and potential for future careers. In addition, one teacher will lead a cohort of scholars taking Algebra.

We equip you with everything needed to succeed, focusing your energy on inspiring a generation of critical thinkers and problem solvers. Through your dedication, students will emerge with a strong mathematical foundation, ready to tackle higher-level math with confidence and curiosity, and prepared for the academic and professional challenges ahead.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Implement curricula and activities that meet Indiana academic standards.
• Conduct assessments to gauge progress toward academic standards.
• Utilize assessment data to refine the curriculum and inform teaching strategies.
• Apply consistent rewards and/or consequences to ensure scholars adhere to the school's core values, expectations, and conduct code.
• Be accountable for scholars’ mastery of academic standards.
• Contribute to grade-level and school-wide activities.
• Maintain clear and effective communication with scholars, families, and colleagues.
• Engage actively in team meetings, including participating in an annual summer staff orientation and training.
• Supervise scholars during classes, breaks, meals, specials, and transitions to ensure a productive learning environment and their safety.
• Attend and engage in school events outside regular hours (e.g., family nights, scholar performances, field trips, report card nights, and Teacher-Family Conferences).
• Uphold and promote Adelante’s core values and educational philosophy.
• Commit to being present and engaged at the school from 7:10 AM to 4:10 PM, Monday through Friday, with flexible work times available from 2:30-4:10 PM.
• Fulfill other duties as assigned.

• Outstanding emotional intelligence, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong technical and organizational skills.
• Eagerness for constant observation and feedback
• Deeply rooted belief that children are capable of reaching the highest bars we set for them
• Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree is preferred
• Valid Indiana State certification or proof of reciprocal licensure in a different state is required. Applicants in Indiana State-approved alternate certification programs must provide proof of enrollment.
