Job Description: As a Digital Literacy Teacher, you will lead the implementation of a new course that blends a school library with digital skills, fostering both individual and group-based learning experiences. Your role is pivotal in nurturing intellectual curiosity, exemplifying the joy of learning, and cultivating an environment where all students can flourish. Collaborative engagement with grade-level teams will be essential as you continuously refine your teaching approach. Building meaningful connections with students and families is a core component of your role, cultivating a love for learning and driving remarkable academic progress.
Specific Responsibilities
- Operates and supervises the Scholar Center.
- Evaluates, selects, and requisitions appropriate books, aids, and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records.
- Serves as a ready resource to students to provide research assistance.
- Maintains a comprehensive and efficient system for cataloging all library materials and assists students and teachers with using the system.
- Coordinates a system of lending library material to students and teachers.
- Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings or by conducting research.
- Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping and providing student information.
- Encourages family involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and families.
- Develops and arranges media center displays.
- Assists with the preparation and administration of the media center budget.
- Trains and supervises media center support volunteers
- Assist in collection and analysis of data on library use, services, trends, and community resources.
- Process circulation and/or collection reports.
- Encouraging the use of instructional technology to engage students and to improve learning, providing 24/7 access to digital information resources for the entire learning community.
- Develop engaging and age-appropriate library classes and activities, including storytimes, research classes, and instruction on library resources.
- Provide readers' advisory services to students, faculty, and families, promoting reading and literacy initiatives.
- Collaborate with teachers to provide materials and support for lesson plans and curriculum integration, fostering information literacy skills among students.
- Develop and deliver technology curricula aligned with state standards
- Design and administer assessments to gauge progress and adapt instruction accordingly
- Participate in regular training sessions to receive real-time feedback on teaching methods
- Engage in collaborative curriculum planning, grade-level initiatives, and school-wide events
- Maintain consistent behavior reinforcement strategies
- Assume accountability for students' mastery of technology standards
- Foster effective communication with students, families, and colleagues
- Attend and actively contribute to events beyond regular school hours
- Engage in a three-week summer staff orientation and training
- Be present and engaged at school from 7:10 AM to 4:10 PM, Monday to Friday
- Fulfill additional duties as assigned
