Job Summary
The All-Trades Superintendent oversees daily field operations across multiple mechanical trades—including HVAC, plumbing, piping, sheet metal, welding, and controls—on commercial, industrial, and residential projects. This role ensures safety, quality, productivity, and scheduling requirements are met, while providing leadership, coordination, and accountability for field crews and subcontractors. The Superintendent serves as the primary on-site representative of the Company, working closely with project managers, foremen, and clients to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to Addison Smith’s quality standards.
Responsibilities
Oversee and coordinate daily field operations across HVAC, plumbing, piping, sheet metal, welding, and controls trades.
Supervise foremen, journeymen, apprentices, and subcontractors to ensure safe, timely, and code-compliant work.
Review project plans, specifications, and schedules; resolve conflicts and communicate updates as needed.
Manage manpower, materials, tools, and equipment for maximum efficiency.
Conduct safety meetings and enforce OSHA, client, and company safety standards.
Inspect work for quality control and compliance with codes and specifications.
Maintain daily jobsite reports, timekeeping, and documentation of manpower, incidents, and inspections.
Partner with project managers to monitor costs, track production, and forecast resource needs.
Serve as the main contact for clients, inspectors, engineers, and owners’ representatives.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Broad knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, piping, sheet metal, welding, and controls installation.
Strong understanding of mechanical codes, standards, and safety regulations.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schedules, and specifications.
Leadership and supervisory skills to manage diverse multi-trade crews.
Effective communication and problem-solving abilities under time-sensitive conditions.
Strong planning, organization, and resource management skills.
Ability to foster teamwork and mentor less experienced tradespeople.
Education & Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
Technical school, apprenticeship, or journeyman certification in a mechanical trade strongly preferred.
Minimum 10 years of mechanical construction experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory/lead role.
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Preferred field of study: Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
