The Safety Specialist plays a key role in promoting a safe work environment by developing, implementing, and supporting safety programs that protect employees and reduce workplace incidents. Responsibilities
- Conduct reviews of workplace injuries and vehicle incidents to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide guidance to employees and contractors to reinforce safe work practices.
- Observe field operations to assess safety conditions and recommend improvements to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Assist in developing and delivering safety training programs, including demonstrations of safety equipment and facilitation of tests such as respirator fit, hearing conservation, forklift operation, and excavation safety.
- Participate in monthly safety team meetings and support team leaders with leadership training to strengthen overall safety performance.
- Maintain accurate safety records for reporting and compliance purposes.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree with at least two years of relevant safety experience; or
- High school diploma/equivalent with at least six years of relevant safety experience.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical or complex concepts clearly.
- Ability to perform basic analyses involving ratios, percentages, and simple statistical methods.
- Basic computer proficiency, including data entry and information retrieval; experience with Microsoft Office preferred.
- Duties involve both office and field work.
- Occasional physical activities may be required, including bending, stooping, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning, and lifting.
- Overnight travel may be required.
