Job Description
This part-time role is ideal for a professional who thrives on detail, compliance, and precision in retirement plan and payroll administration. You will oversee all aspects of retirement plan operations while supporting payroll processing and helping develop junior HR staff into well-rounded payroll and benefits professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day administration of multiple retirement plans (401k, 457b, pension).
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS, and all applicable regulatory requirements.
- Oversee retirement plan audits, annual testing, reporting, and employee notices.
- Partner with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve retirement-related matters.
- Process and reconcile bi-weekly payroll, including tax withholdings and benefit deductions.
- Prepare payroll-related reports, assist with audits, and resolve compliance issues.
- Provide expert-level guidance and training to junior HR staff on payroll and retirement administration.
- Respond to employee inquiries with accuracy and professionalism.
- 5 years of hands-on experience managing retirement plans (401k, 457b, pension) and payroll.
- Strong knowledge of retirement plan compliance (ERISA, IRS requirements).
- Experience reconciling payroll with retirement plan contributions and vendor submissions.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (not required); certifications such as CRPP, QPA, QKA, CPFA a plus.
- Proficiency in HRIS/payroll systems (Dayforce preferred).
- Excellent communication skills and ability to provide guidance with confidence.
- Comfortable working on-site part of the week, including in a professional, military-focused environment.
- Reports to HR Director.
- Team size: 3 HR staff.
