Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, submit, and track medical billing claims to commercial insurance plans and government payers
- Review patient records for accuracy, completeness, and proper documentation prior to billing
- Perform full-cycle billing, including charge entry, claim submission, follow-up, and resolution
- Utilize ICD-10, ICD-9, DRG, and other coding systems to ensure accurate coding
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims and research discrepancies with insurance carriers
- Assist with prior authorizations as needed
- Maintain well-organized billing records in compliance with regulatory guidelines
- Communicate effectively with providers, patients, and insurance representatives regarding billing inquiries
- Stay current on changes to billing regulations, payer requirements, and coding practices
- Proven experience in medical billing (full cycle)
- Hands-on experience using Epic for billing and EHR
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and coding systems (ICD-10, ICD-9 required)
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative Revenue Cycle team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with DRG coding
- Healthcare office or clinical billing environment experience
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- 100% onsite position
