Job Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct maintenance staff in completing daily tasks.
- Estimates time and materials needed to complete repairs and new projects.
- Oversees and inspects the work performed by outside contractors.
- Responsible for creating projects plans and simple budgets for internal projects for presentation to management.
- Able to write method of procedures governing preventative maintenance of critical equipment.
- Work with contractors and vendors in order to get quotes for work and implement work once approved.
- Perform preventive maintenance on all equipment including, but not limited to
- Refrigeration
- HVAC
- Electrical
- Emergency backup systems
- Other utility building systems
- Monitors operation of
- adjusts and maintains refrigeration
- chilled water
- air conditioning equipment
- pumps
- valves
- piping
- filters. Does the same on all other mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Ability to analyze the operation of various systems, determining the root cause of all problems and malfunctions and to take corrective action as required.
- Able to read complex building drawings and schematics.
- Complies with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, and company directives related to building operations and work safety.
- Responsible for checking stock of supplies and materials and placing orders with vendors as required.
- Responsible for managing maintenance work order software, including uploading new work orders as required.
- Will manage the building engineering team when the Chief is not present.
- Able to write operations procedures and standards.
- Responsible for training of new building engineers
- Decisions made with understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines.
- 5 years of electrical and mechanical experience in a High Availability Data Center (Prefer: Hyperscale/Large Scale Buildings)(Seeking a minimum of 10MW)
- Chillers experience (Air or water cooled, evaporative cooling is unapplicable)
- Experience with Computer Room Air Handler (CRAH units)
- Experience with uninterruptible power supplies (UPS)
- Experience with Generators
- Experience with Electrical controls operation.
- General HVAC knowledge (Understand refrigerant cycles/ basic HVAC troubleshooting)
- Experience with formulation, implementation, and adherence to safety policies and procedures related to the daily operations of the facilities. Participation in safety, knowledge and skills training.
