Addison Central School DistrictBehavior Consultant2025-2026Addison Central School District is seeking a full-time Behavior Consultant. Candidates must have strong communication skills to collaborate with team members in order to support students with social/emotional needs. Must have an understanding of the function of behavior and be able to conduct Functional Behavior Assessments and experience working with individuals with special needs. The Behavior Consultant is a professional support position and will be working in collaboration with a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.Responsibilities include: Essential Functions: Understand typical school-age behavioral conditions such as intellectual disabilities,traumatic brain injury, autism, etc.
Understand special education regulations. Participate in SST/EST/IEP meetings. Assess required level of behavioral supports (general education/teacher training, part-timeor full-time paraeducator support, ISS, or alternative placement). Conduct FBAs and FAs.
Assessment, creation, facilitation, implementation, and evaluation of behavioralinterventions for students within their schools in the form of a consultation report orbehavior plan. Work with an interdisciplinary team to make recommendations for system-wide andindividual needs. Coordinate between teachers and administrators to implement behavioral interventions Offer periodic review to guarantee behavior plan compliance. Coordinate with parents, paraprofessionals, teachers, psychologists, doctors, therapists,and other caregivers when needed.
Run staff training on behavioral topics. Model implementation of various behavioral interventions. Provide support for students and staff in the form of teaching social skills curriculum,collaborative problem solving, home to school transitions, check-in/check-outs, etc. Assist students to determine inappropriate behavior and develop appropriate actions forgood pro-social and interpersonal skills.
Data collection: Determines behavior capabilities of students as they function in schoolCoordinates with special education staff to train, collect, monitor, and analyze datafor ensuring behavior intervention effectivenessMeasure goals and objectives of behavior support plans to ensure they are beingmet This role is a mandated reporter and as such must report possible cases of child abuse,neglect, or endangerment to the proper authorities.Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential dutysatisfactorily, in addition to the following: Bachelors degree in psychology, social work, or human services. Experience working with individuals with special needs.Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must have an understanding of behavioral characteristics associated with behaviordisorders, autism, intellectual disabilities, traumatic brain injuries and other behavior issues. Has good communication skills, both written and verbal, particularly with parents andeducation professionals. Has a basic understanding of instructional methods and education curriculums.
