Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position manages daily operations and ensures the team consistently meets production, quality, and safety goals. Strong communication skills, the ability to track and analyze production data, train and coach team members are required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Team Supervision: Plan, assign, and manage daily tasks for the team. Manage full-time and temporary employees that have varying levels of experience to achieve production goals.
- Production Planning and Reporting: Analyze daily production and quality data, ensure workflows and work centers are operating efficiently. Communicate regularly with operations team to ensure alignment and track progress toward production goals.
- Equipment Operation: Learn how to operate rewinding and assembly equipment. Serve as the go-to expert for processing questions.
- Quality Assurance: Oversee the quality inspection processes conducted by the team. Address any deficiencies in a timely manner to ensure standards are met.
- Training: Provide training and coaching for tenured and new team members to continuously improve their skills and performance.
- Problem-Solving: Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to the finishing and packaging processes.
- Safety: Ensure all safety protocols and procedures are followed.
- Material and inventory management: Monitor inventory levels of materials, tools, and supplies used within the team and coordinate reordering when necessary.
- 6S and Facilities Organization: Manage the 6S program (Sort, Set in Place, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, Safety) for multiple work centers where packaging and product assembly is performed. Maintain requirements, conduct audits, and report results.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Supervisory experience – managing teams in a manufacturing environment.
- Prior experience with packaging and finishing processes, such as bag sealing, pouching, material slitting, rewinding, kitting or product assembly.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to operate finishing equipment (material rewinders, bag/pouch sealing equipment, arbor press, etc) .
- Positive, Can-Do attitude.
- Self-motivated, detailed oriented, with a high sense of urgency and ability to make decisions.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with outstanding follow up skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, in oral and written format.
- Skilled at problem solving, finding, and implementing solutions.
- Strong organization and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail. Ability to interpret technical drawings and work orders.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Ability to stand, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for long periods.
- Capable of lifting and moving materials, with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing or production environment may be loud.
