The Opportunity

The Vice President of Global Strategic Purchasing leads and shapes our global purchasing operations. This critical leadership role focuses on strategic supply chain management, supplier quality, and trade compliance, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and driving significant value across the business.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in evaluating our current strategies, optimizing team structures, building supplier relationships, and addressing key challenges related to growth, new product launches, and trade compliance.

You will make an impact by....

• Strategic Purchasing: Develop and execute global supply chain and purchasing strategies that support business objectives and growth plans, across the globe, regionally and by continent.
• Supplier Quality: Oversee supplier quality initiatives to ensure the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective parts while balancing supplier relationships and cost management.
• Trade Compliance: Lead trade compliance efforts across regions to ensure adherence to international regulations and mitigate risks.
• Team Leadership: Manage a team od direct and indirect reports
  o Evaluate and optimize team structures to meet organizational needs.
• Supplier Cost Management: Manage supplier relationships with a focus on balancing cost and quality, particularly as 85% of costs are parts-related rather than labor.
• Value Creation: Monitor, manage, and expand the company's existing value creation plans.
• Strategic Planning: Evaluate current strategies, including partnerships in China, and explore new supply chain opportunities.
• Risk management : assess and mitigate supply chain risks related to suppliers, geopolitical factors, ...
• Cross-functional collaboration : work closely with R&D, production, logistics and finance to align purchasing strategies with business objectives and operational needs
  

Travel Requirements:

• Approximately 25% travel internationally, primarily to Europe/Zaventem or the United States/Columbus, with occasional trips to China as needed.
• Expect one week-long trip per month.
  

Key Challenges

• New Product Launches: Support supply chain readiness for new product introductions.
• Tariff Management: Navigate the current tariff situation and mitigate its impact on operations.
• Growth Risks: Identify and address potential risks associated with the company's growth trajectory.

The talent we want to inspire has...

• Strong technical background, preferably in electrical engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in global strategic purchasing.
• Industry experience in sectors such as automotive, appliances, or related fields
• Demonstrated experience working with business lines with R&D and new product initiatives
• Previous experience with complex, international companies
• Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and build high-performing teams across global markets.
• Strategic Thinking: Strong analytical and planning skills to evaluate and optimize supply chain operations.
• Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of supplier cost management, trade compliance, and global supply chain challenges.
