Job Description:
- Assist attorneys with managing litigation caseloads, calendars, deadlines, and case milestones.
- Organize and maintain physical and electronic case files using firm document-management systems.
- Conduct initial case assessments and prepare case summaries.
- Draft, serve, and respond to discovery requests (interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admission).
- Coordinate and manage document production, including collection, review, and organization of evidence.
- Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and third parties to obtain necessary information.
- Prepare and maintain privilege logs.
- Perform factual and legal research using online databases and public records.
- Draft litigation documents including pleadings, motions, affidavits, subpoenas, notices, and correspondence.
- Prepare deposition summaries, trial notebooks, witness lists, and exhibit binders.
- Prepare and file court documents in state and/or federal courts, ensuring compliance with applicable rules.
- Manage electronic court filings (e-filing) and monitor dockets for new filings, orders, and deadlines.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients to provide updates and gather information.
- Coordinate and schedule meetings, depositions, mediations, and hearings.
- Assist attorneys with trial preparation, including logistics, exhibits, and witness coordination.
Qualifications
- 2 years of experience as a civil litigation paralegal (or comparable legal support role).
- Experience with state and/or federal civil litigation procedures.
- Strong understanding of litigation processes, court rules, and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in legal software (e-filing systems, case management software, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Professional demeanor and strong client-service skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively under tight deadlines.
